Microdermabrasion - Gentle skin renewal for a fresh complexion.
Microdermabrasion is a proven, non-invasive procedure for skin rejuvenation. Through controlled, mechanical exfoliation of the upper layers of the skin, dead skin cells are removed, cell renewal is stimulated, and the skin’s texture is visibly improved. At Dr. Juliane Bodo’s practice in Berlin, we use this procedure specifically to gently yet effectively refine the skin’s appearance—with absolutely no downtime.
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a medical-cosmetic treatment in which fine crystals or diamond-tipped attachments exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin (stratum corneum). This gentle exfoliation promotes the regeneration of skin cells and improves the absorption of skincare ingredients. The treatment is painless and is particularly suitable for patients who want fresh, smooth skin—without any scalpels or injections.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types and is particularly recommended for the following skin conditions:
- dull, tired, or coarse-textured skin
- Mild acne or blemished skin
- superficial pigmentation disorders
- fine lines and sun-damaged skin
- Skin Thickening (Hyperkeratosis)
- Preparing for Medical-Aesthetic Treatments
Before the first treatment, a personalized skin analysis is performed to determine the best possible treatment option.
Treatment Process
Microdermabrasion is performed in several steps:
- Cleansing the Skin
- Abrasive removal of the upper skin cells using a diamond grinding head
- Deep Penetration of Active Ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid or vitamin C
- Soothing Final Mask and Skincare
The treatment lasts about 45 to 60 minutes. For optimal results, we recommend a course of treatment consisting of several sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart.
Possible side effects
Microdermabrasion is very well tolerated. In rare cases, mild redness, a feeling of tightness, or temporary skin sensitivity may occur. Complications are rare when the procedure is performed properly.
Follow-up Care and Behavior After Treatment
- Avoid saunas or intense sun exposure during the first 24 hours
- Sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF 50) for at least one week
- No exfoliants or irritating cosmetics during the first few days
- Moisturizing treatment to support skin regeneration
