BodyTite
minimally invasive skin tightening
Traditional liposuction removes fat, but the skin does not automatically shrink back. Especially in areas such as the upper arms, abdomen, or inner thighs, loose tissue often remains after liposuction, which neither exercise nor time will resolve. This is precisely where BodyTite comes in.
I am Dr. Juliane Bodo, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery in Berlin-Charlottenburg. I use BodyTite™ specifically as a complement to liposuction – to complete the result and simultaneously tighten the skin from the inside out. The procedure is minimally invasive, leaves no visible scars, and can be performed on an outpatient basis.
I also use BodyTite specifically to combine gentle yet effective tissue contouring with thermal tightening—ideal for patients who do not want a traditional lift, but are nevertheless seeking a visible improvement in their body contours.
What is BodyTite and how does it work?
BodyTite is based on the so-called RFAL technology (Radiofrequency-Assisted Lipolysis). Controlled radiofrequency energy is introduced precisely into the subcutaneous fat tissue via a fine cannula. At the same time, an external electrode glides over the skin's surface. The procedure acts on four levels simultaneously:
- Fat cells are liquefied by thermal energy
- The liquefied fat is precisely suctioned out
- Collagen fibers and connective tissue septa are thermally shortened and tightened
- The long-term formation of collagen and elastin is stimulated
Real-time temperature monitoring reliably protects the surrounding tissue from overheating. Clinical studies have demonstrated an average linear tissue tightening of 31 % after 12 months.
Who is BodyTite suitable for?
BodyTite is suitable for patients who:
- wish for accompanying skin tightening after liposuction
- have moderate skin laxity in defined areas of the body
- do not want a traditional tightening surgery with long scars
- are close to their ideal weight, but have localized areas of sagging skin
BodyTite™ is not a substitute for a major tightening surgery. In the case of severely sagging abdominal skin – such as after pregnancy or significant weight loss – a Tummy tuck the more sustainable solution.
Treatment options – modularly applicable
Depending on the body region, I use different handpieces, all of which operate on the same RFAL principle:
BodyTite™
for larger areas such as stomach, hips, back, thighs, or upper arms
AccuTite™
for small, sensitive areas such as the knees, neck, or navel region
FaceTite
for face and jawline – ideal in combination with a facelift
Treatment procedure
The treatment is performed under local anesthesia or twilight sleep and takes about 45 to 90 minutes depending on the region and scope. It is performed on an outpatient basis – a hospital stay is generally not necessary.
In a first step, the treatment area is marked and disinfected. Subsequently, I insert the probe through an incision in the skin of about 2 mm. The radiofrequency energy is delivered in a targeted manner, while the outer electrode treats the skin surface evenly. Excess fat is suctioned out at the same time. The minimal access points generally heal without visible scars.
Preparation for the treatment
- Stop blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) at least ten days in advance
- Quit nicotine at least two weeks beforehand – smoking impairs wound healing
- Do not eat or drink from midnight before the procedure (for twilight sedation)
- Procure compression garments in advance – they are needed immediately after treatment
- Plan an accompanying person for the way home
Aftercare & Healing Process
- Compression clothing: Wear consistently for 2 to 4 weeks
- Physical rest: Take it easy for the first 3 to 4 days, light exercise is allowed
- Sport Avoid for about 2 weeks
- Sauna, tanning bed, UV radiation: Avoid for 4 to 6 weeks
- Socially acceptable Usually after 1 to 2 weeks
- Initial results: Visible after just a few weeks
- Final result: Fully visible after 3 to 6 months, as new collagen formation takes time
Showering is allowed from the day after the treatment. Because the radiofrequency energy simultaneously seals small blood vessels, swelling and bruising are significantly less than with conventional liposuction.
Risks & Potential Complications
BodyTite™ is considered a safe procedure when performed professionally under clinical conditions. Possible complications include:
- Swelling and bruising: Typically significantly lower than with classical liposuction, subside within a few days
- Numbness or hardening: Temporarily, regress on their own
- Irregular skin surface: Rare, possible especially with very thin skin
- Pigment changes or infections: Very rare – minimized by precise temperature monitoring and sterile conditions
I will discuss all risks with you in detail during the personal consultation before the treatment.
