VDÄPC Annual Congress 2026
March 30, 2026
On March 13 and 14, 2026, I was in Berlin at the 30th Annual Spring Meeting of the VDÄPC—the Association of German Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons—at the Grand Hyatt Berlin. Every year, the conference brings together leading specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery from German-speaking countries and beyond.
What I particularly enjoyed about this year was that I wasn't just there as a participant, but as a member of a panel of experts—and I gave a presentation on a topic that was a bit outside the norm.
Not medicine, but entrepreneurship
My topic was not a surgical procedure, a new surgical technique, or the current state of research. I spoke about the successful establishment and management of a licensed private clinic under §30 of the German Trade Regulation Act (GewO).
At first glance, this may seem surprising—talking about hospital management at a medical conference. But it strikes a chord with the times. More and more medical specialists want to go into private practice and build their own practice or clinic—and in doing so, they face questions that simply aren’t covered in their medical residency training. How does a §30 license work? How do you build a team that can grow with you? How do you run a clinic that is sustainable both medically and financially?
Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience as a private practice specialist and clinic director in Berlin-Charlottenburg, I have enjoyed sharing my insights—both the positive and the challenging ones.
What particularly moved me about this conference
For me, the VDÄPC Congress is one of the most important national gatherings in our field. The combination of academic exchange, collegial discussion, and the opportunity to look beyond our own horizons—including into the areas of practice and clinical management—makes it a valuable event every year.
The fact that my expertise as a clinic operator is in demand in this context is, to me, a confirmation of the path I have consciously chosen: to run a clinic that not only provides medical care of the highest standard, but also makes patients feel truly well cared for—from their initial inquiry through to their final follow-up care.
If you have any questions about my clinic or would like a no-obligation consultation, I look forward to hearing from you.
