AMWC Monaco 2026 – my report.
April 14, 2026
At the end of March, I was in Monaco for the AMWC – the Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress at the Grimaldi Forum. With over 17.000 doctors from all over the world, more than 350 exhibitors, hundreds of lectures and live demonstrations, this congress is one of the most important opportunities for me each year to stay up-to-date with international developments in my field.
What particularly impressed me this time is the clear direction. Aesthetic medicine is moving away from quick corrections and towards a deeper, regenerative understanding of aging.
Biostimulants dominate – collagen instead of volume
The dominant theme at AMWC 2026 was the latest biostimulants – particularly poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). These substances don't replace volume but rather stimulate the body to produce its own collagen. The result is more progressive, natural, and longer-lasting than traditional fillers.
Galderma – particularly relevant for me as a certified Galderma consultant – presented new data from its injectables portfolio, focusing on holistic aesthetic results. It's no longer just about smoothing out a wrinkle. It's about considering the face as a whole structure.
Regenerative Aesthetics – Exosomes, PRP and Autologous Fat
Another strong trend: regenerative procedures that activate the body's own healing processes. Exosome therapy, PRP treatments, and autologous fat transfer were the focus of numerous sessions. The message was clear – these procedures are promising, but must be used with scientific discipline, not as a trend.
I already use regenerative procedures such as PRP and autologous fat transfer in my clinic – and it was encouraging to see how strongly the international research community is working in this direction.
“GLP-1 Face” – a new phenomenon in practice
A topic that is increasingly coming into practice is the so-called "GLP-1 face effect." More and more patients are taking GLP-1 medications for weight loss—and are experiencing significant facial volume loss in the process. Combination therapies to counteract this volume loss were discussed in Monaco: biostimulators, autologous fat transfer, and structural filler protocols. This is a topic I am already seeing more frequently in my clinic.
Neuro-aesthetics – the psychology behind the result
Dr. Steven Dayan presented fascinating insights into the field of neuro-aesthetics – how the brain perceives and processes the results of aesthetic treatments. The goal is not a younger-looking face, but rather a face that appears more rested and harmonious. This is a perspective I strongly share in my daily consulting work.
The “Undetectable Era”
The term I've heard most often is "The Undetectable Era." The age in which you can tell a patient has been treated is over—at least in the best practices worldwide. Structural harmony, natural mobility, and skin quality instead of visible procedures. That's the direction the entire field is moving in—and the direction I've been pursuing in my clinic from the very beginning.
If you have any questions about the treatments mentioned or would like a consultation at my clinic in Berlin-Charlottenburg – I look forward to hearing from you.
